After reading about communist leaders, create a Venn diagram comparing communist rulers in China and Latin America. Then, after reading about the Cold War, brainstorm the meanings of the words iron curtain, containment, and brinkmanship. Create a pictoword which is a symbolic representation for the word that shows its meaning. You may use hand-drawn pictures, magazine cutouts, or clip art to create pictures within the borders of each word or to create a picture from each word (for example, the “I” in iron is drawn like a brick wall and the ”T” in curtain is drawn to represent a missile). Then label the symbols to show their meaning.
