The Economic Impact of the European War:

Britain had long since abolished the United States' grievance, the Orders-in-Council prohibiting commerce with European countries; indeed, Orders-in-Council had been repealed by the end of June, 1812.

Problems with the Navy:

The question of impressment was abandoned by the United States. Since Napoleon's defeat, Britain had an excess of sailors and no longer practiced piracy.

Expansionism:

Just the territorial questions prevailed as the peacemakers sat in Ghent in 1814. Since Britain decided to abandon plans to establish a First Nations barrier-state between the United States and Canada, it was only a matter of time before both sides agreed to end tensions by returning to the pre-war status quo.  The peace treaty was concluded and sealed on Christmas Eve, 1814. The eleven articles claimed that the United States and the United Kingdom must revert to the status quo ante bellum, or the situation as it was prior to the war. There was no discussion of impressment or the Orders-in-Council, which were the problems that prompted the US to declare war. On paper, it was as though the war had never happened.
