However, as she discovered through her interviews, many women were in fact not happy with that set-up, but were convinced that is how other women felt due to the "suburban housewife" imagery they would see in magazines, newspapers, and the TV. Friedan then worked hard to show this discontent, which eventually gave rise to a new feminist movement.
