The eighteenth century was marked by the arrival of large numbers of immigrants from Scotland and Ireland, who colonized the interior of the Thirteen Colonies. These settlers were quickly assimilated into dominant English culture.

Nearly around 14 million people entered United States as immigrants between the period of 2000 to 2010 and most of them were from Mexico, China and India.
