Did the puritans really come to america seeking religious freedom how did they reconcile

That is debatable. They were something like hard line Christians who didn't want for others to have their religious freedoms. They disliked Catholics and progressive believers and wanted to have a deeply Christian society. They went to the new world to establish a colony for true Christians.
