In what ways have historians tried to explain the origins of patriarchy

Historians trace the origins of patriarchy social organization. This is through social organization and development. That is how women and women coalesced on different social activities. Other historians trace it to the division of labour. This is whereby the genders performed different duties in the society. Men gravitated towards more difficult and complex duties.
