The enlightenment effects were a partial reason for the American Revolutionary War, because the colonists felt that the King had too much power, then imposed taxes, were a trigger to begin implementing the idea of the Enlightenment. The way to do this was the Revolutionary War, and these same ideas were the root of both the Declaration of Independence and later the Constitution.
