The Eighteenth Amendment enacted along with the Volstead act of 1919 banned the manufacture and consent of alcoholic beverages. It is sometimes also stated as the Minnesota Rep. on behalf of Andrew Volstead. Andrew was the director of the “House of Judiciary” Committee who was the one responsible for the implementation of the act. The act granted Legislature to establish it as constitutional. After the ratification the prohibition began on 17th January 1920 just after the one year of its ratification. The act didn’t lasted for much extent and was repealed on 5th December 1933 through 21st Amendment.
