The idea of "supremacy" means that the thing we are discussing is higher in value or importance to everything else. This is what we mean when we say that the Constitution is the "supreme law of the land." The Constitution is the highest, most important law in the country, and all other laws need to be compatible with it. Moreover, in any dispute, the Constitution holds more power and importance than any other law in the country.
