The poor were becoming poorer because of World War One and the funding towards the war instead of the country itself. In addition to not helping the poor, due to the horrible economy there were many food shortages as well which angered the poor and now hungry majority of Russia. These angered citizens started rebelling then along with them the military started rebelling after the tsar telling them to fire into the crowds of their own people.
