English version:

Explain the main idea and a secondary idea in the following text.

“For us, a nation is a soul, a spirit, a spiritual family; it results in the past of memories, of sacrifices, of glories; frequently of duels and common penalties; in the present, the desire to continue living together. What constitutes a nation is not speaking the same language or belonging to the same ethnographic group; it is having done great things in the past and wanting to do them in the future [...]. A nation is thus a great solidarity, constituted by the feeling of the sacrifices that have been made and the sacrifices that are still being prepared to make. It supposes a past; However, it is summed up in the present by a tangible fact: consent, the clearly expressed desire to continue life together. The existence of a nation is (forgive me this metaphor) an everyday plebiscite, just as the existence of the individual is a perpetual affirmation of life ”.
