The Indian Removal Act was signed into law by President Andrew Jackson on May 28, 1830, authorizing the president to grant lands west of the Mississippi in exchange for Indian lands within existing state borders. A few tribes went peacefully, but many resisted the relocation policy. This was brought on by the colonists moving into ladn they did not own, the natives were living on the land. So in 1830 Andrew jackson signed a treaty in order to let clonists move farther into territory that they had forced many natives to unfairly sign. Some refused to move and were forced out. 4) bleeding kansas- this fighting took place in kansas after congress allowed this territory to vote on whether or not they would have slavery. citizens were killed and buildings were destroyed during this fighting.
