Why were the primary elections the most critical in the period after Reconstruction? o the primary elections were for the party candidates and since there was only one party, it decided the victor.
The general elections took so long to happen so everyone voted in the summer primaries.
Siate law required the primary to choose the winner and the general elections were only held for federal laws.
Primary elections cost the most money for the state.
