He made decisions based upon what he thought would help his country. He vetoed the bill to recharter the bank because he thought it was unconstitutional and would only benefit the rich. He fought for his country and was a hero, he fought in the battle of New Orleans as a General and was named a hero.

Andrew Jackson became a national war hero in 1812 after he defeated the British at New Orleans in the war of 1812. Jackson also contributed to many state elections as he was a "people's" person, who did things he thought would please the people, so he could win more votes.
