Sweating is a cooling mechanism for the body. Moisture on the surface of our skin will absorb heat from our body and evaporate. One hypothesis is that the same principle should be applicable to other formats. The science is in the reaction of water evaporation.
In an experiment, water evaporation is used to act as a coolant on a candy bar, preventing it from melting as fast as another candy bar that was not
using water evaporation. Take two, identical, wrapped candy bars and wrap one of them in a damp paper towel. Place each candy bar under a lamp
and observe what happens in ten minutes. According to the hypothesis, the candy bar wrapped in a damp paper towel should not melt as fast due to
the cooling nature of the evaporating water. A third candy bar is exposed to similar conditions to see how it compares to the other two.
In a different setting, two people walk outside and are exposed to the sun for five minutes to see how warm their skin temperature will get. The skin
of one of the persons was drenched by a water hose before the experiment began. A third person is exposed to similar conditions to see how it
compares to the other two.
