This, in turn, led to Benito Mussolini coming into power, boasting promises of a greater Italy in the near future. Similarly, the Treaty of Versailles left Germany in a lot of debt, and many German citizens were suffering. Hitler, a charismatic leader who took advantage of the political and economic turmoil, took over and gave Germany an excuse for their problems: the Jewish population.
