What effect did sugar plantations have on trade and colonialism

The most important effect of the sugar plantations on the people of America is that it helps them to build their own permanent settlement. Sugar was the main cash crop produced on the land of Caribbean throughout 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries. The main source of labor for this was enslaved Africans.
