Hebert Hoover disappointed many Americans. As the President of the United States, people expected him to be at the forefront of the solutions during the Great Depression. But no. He was a passive leader that did not convince anyone. He thought that the US economy would recover naturally with the pass of time. So he decided not to intervene to help the millions of Americans that lost their jobs.

On the other hand, we have a completely different example. As soon as Franklin D. Roosevelt took the presidency, he created the New Deal, a series of programs aimed to help the American people that lost everything after the stock market crash of October 29, 1929.

He showed a much better leadership style, being proactive and making aggressive decisions to attack the economic problems.
