The u. s. and australia have refused to sign the kyoto protocol

 I'm from the U.S. and according to popular belief, it was thought the protocol would damage the U.S. economy and put an unfair burden on our country while excusing too much environmental impact in many other countries around the world, particularly developing economies. 

I don't know how true that is-how much it would have impacted the U.S. economy-but what really ticked me off was how the Administration just disengaged. If it was that bad of a deal for us, why wouldn't we have sent representatives to try to renegotiate more favorable terms and made our position very clear in the global media? Instead, we just walked away and gave up a worldwide leadership role in the responsible stewardship of our environment. 

But it isn't just Kyoto that this administration walked away from-there have been so many issues that our position has been compromised on it would be difficult to list them all. I am personally very angry that the current administration seems to define 'superpower' in military terms only. Don't get me wrong-I support our military and am very patriotic-but I think the eight years of this administration will go down in history as one of the darkest eras EVER in America. I hope the next administration, regardless of party, will be more responsible and thoughtful.
