Equal treatment

Explanation:

The initial proposal for equal treatments were initially made in 1923 under the Equal Rights amendments proposal. But, at that time, this proposal did not obtain enough support from the public and eventually shrugged off under the radar.

The proposal for equal treatment re-emerged during the Civil rights movement. The civil right act of 1964 directly banned any form of discrimination/preferential treatment based on race, color, religion, and sex. Even though the application of the act hasn't been optimal, it provide a strong legal protection for equal treatment for both sexes which never existed before that time period.
