A compass is a geographic instrument used to show location and direction using the Cardinal Points, North (N), East (E), South (S), and West (W). North corresponds to 0 degrees, and the angles increase clockwise, so east is 90 degrees, south is 180, and west is 270. It is used to find A: the direction of motion, B: the direction of an object relative to your location, or C: the angle away from North of a distant point as observed at the current point.

A compass is a bearing tool. There are many different styles of compasses but with one and I don't remember what the name is all you do is point the arrow in front of you and turn the dial until the red pin is inside the red "box" and then the dial along with the arrow will tell you which way you are pointed.
