Explanation:

The Church of England underwent significant reforms during the reign of King Edward VI. The king was a Protestant, and by the reformist views, he reformed the state church. The king believed that all splendor must be removed from the interior of the church. To this end, he removed from the church's lavish and precious paintings. He replaced furniture that was previously expensive with simple and modest ones. Thus the church was given a much simpler appearance, which is under the principles of the Reformation.
