Read the excerpt from an 1810 speech by Tecumseh. You wish to prevent the Indians from doing as we wish them, to unite and let them consider their lands as the common property of the whole. You take the tribes aside and advise them not to come into this measure. . . . You want by your distinctions of Indian tribes, in allotting to each a particular, to make them war with each other. You never see an Indian endeavor to make the white people do this. You are continually driving the red people, when at last you will drive them onto the great lake, where they can neither stand nor work.

PLEASE HURRY. According to the excerpt, what did Tecumseh want other American Indians to do?

fight among themselves so Tecumseh could gain their land
think of their land as common American Indian property
negotiate and then agree to peace with whites
relocate to the great lake for work

The princes of europe believed that they were no longer obligated to remain under the authority of the church. the idea of another christian church, one outside of the pope's authority, had financial appeal as well. many european leaders began to seize church property and place it under the authority of the state. based on the text, why did another christian church appeal to european princes? it would allow them to make religious decisions. it would give them authority over people. it would allow them to expand their lands. it would allow them to influence the pope.
