The Greek Golden Age started to come to an end.     Athens was destroyed and it would never recover from its defeat.  Though the Spartans won the war, its success was short-lived as the war also took its toll on Sparta and they were later defeated by Thebans.  Later Alexander the Great conquered all of Greece.
