Sharecropping tied newly freed African Americans to someone elses land by O forcing them to give up income from the land. O forcing them back into working as enslaved labor. Okeeping them in constant debt. O paying them a very low wage.

in his book, the riddle of the rosetta stone, james giblin talks about how there was a young british polymath and physician named thomas young who made a lot of advances on the deciphering of the rosetta stone. he says that even though young made a lot of mistakes because he was working under false assumptions, he also made huge contributions like deciphering three out of the seven symbols (more than anyone else before him). young published his findings and continued his good work but he wasn't able to progress much further due to some unfavorable situations, he still laid the basis for many other scholars and of course for the man who has been generally known to have deciphered it, jean-françois champollion

once he became head of state in 1915, venustiano (his name was not victoriano) carranza was able to implement some of his ideas, such as the drafting and the promulgation of the mexican constitution of 1917, which is still the current constitution of that country.  

character development is the internal change an individual, a fictional one in this case, undergoes through the course of a story as a result of the conflict or conflicts that person encounters. options 1,2 and 5 don't offer much of this since they mostly just describe the momentary actions and reactions of edna pontellier. in kate chopin's the awakening we first meet edna as someone in a sort of semi-conscious state and completely unaware of her own feelings and ambitions. as the story progresses she becomes more self aware of these ambitions and gaining also the confidence to act on them on quotes 3 and (mostly on) 4 we begin to see these changes on her.
