How did expanding voting rights impact elections

For a long time in U.S. History, women and African-American people did not have the privilege and American right to vote. Once they gained this right, elections became more true to America, and got everyone's opinion, not just white males. Women, and African-Americans got to voice how they felt, and who they wanted to be their elected ruler. Obviously, there was a broader span of ideals, and more women and African-American friendly rules and laws came into place.

in griswold v. connecticut (1965), the supreme court ruled that a state's ban on the use of contraceptives violated the right to marital privacy.
