Explain why the process of industrialization is called a revolution, and summarize the effects of industrialization on the people of the era.

a revolution is defined as "a dramatic and wide-reaching change in the way something works or is organized or in people's ideas about it." the industrial revolution, which was a process of widespread industrialization during the nineteenth century,  fits this definition because it caused a sudden change in the way goods were produced. new technology was being created and new industries were being born during this time.

machines quickly replaced humans, so skilled workers lost their jobs. unskilled workers became the main working class. poor, working immigrants could run machines. men, women, and children worked in separate factories, in contrast to whole families working together in the home. on the other hand, one positive effect of the industrial revolution was that the process of creating goods  was sped up and technology was allowed to progress even further. the advancements created by the industrial revolution, such as the incandescent light bulb and telegraph, enabled people to develop and share ideas more quickly than ever before. the industrial revolution created a cycle of new developments in technology.

an expansion is one of two basic business cycle phases; the other is contraction. the transition from expansion to contraction is a peak, and the changeover from contraction to expansion is a trough.
