   The event depicted in the painting reflects the fall of

Byzantium because the event is the invasion of the

capital Constantinople in 1453 by the Ottoman

Empire. We can see the soldiers invading the city by

using ladders, allowing them to scale the walls and

actually get into the city. There are also immense

numbers of Ottoman soldiers, allowing them to

overwhelm the city. They are also using advanced

weapons, making it easier for them to take over the city.
