13th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, officially ending the institution of slavery, is ratified. 14th amendment, All persons born or naturalized in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. 15th, The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of race, color, or previous condition of servitude.

Explanation: Basically 13th "officially" ended slavery (still many black people were forced to work), 14th, people who are born here are a citizen to the US, and 15th makes "officially" declares every US citizen to vote (still very prejudice and not equal for most).

the thirteenth amendment is what got rid of slavery and serving someone involutarily. it can be for a crime tough. the fourteenth says anyone who is born in the united states is a citizen even former slaves. all these people will have equal protection under all laws. the fifteenth amendment says when voting it doesnt matter what youre race or skin color is.
