What did the Truman Doctrine say?

President Truman decided that when he was going to address congress on March 12, 1947, he was going to specificallly mention that there needed to be an amount of aid sent to Greece and Turkey: specifically economic and military aid.

However it also included any country that was threatened by communism  

- "schenck v. united states, case in which the u.s. supreme court ruled on march 3, 1919, that the freedom of speech protection afforded in the u.s. constitution's first amendment could be restricted if the words spoken or printed represented to society a “clear and present danger.” "

- speech aimed to potentially create danger could be banned.
