What benefits did clans provide?

 If you were in a clan, when you would get messed with you would have a protection from that clan and they would usually try to ruin the life of the person, so the only time you would really be messed with would be from members of other clans. It also provided a large family you could be apart of, which if there are mothers in the clan, they would have the protection they need to grow families. There are a lot of benefits from being in a clan.
