Being a pirate's slave wasn't easy. I had to clean the decks and do other dirty work. Many times, I thought about escaping. But everywhere!
looked, there was only the wide sea. One day, the ship docked at an island. I knew that old Black Beard was planning to sell me. I was afraid
my new master would be crueler than the pirate. When the ship docked, I ran toward the gangplank that led outside. Some of the other
pirates shouted at me, but I ignored them as I ran. I heard their footsteps behind me. They were chasing mel if I got caught I would get a
good beating. But I didn't care. I would rather die than spend another minute on that ship.
