Explanation: the indus valley people settled in the river indus. which is a river flowing from Himalayas. even thought the place was very fertile and was a good place for farming it had it's effect on the people. in winters the river indus used to overflow and submerge the cities mohenjadaro and harappa.

thus, fearing these  bad elements people vacated the place and travelled south,
