How were women involved in World War II?

about 35,000 women joined the military in world war two. They worked as nurses, truck drivers, repaired airplanes and did some clerical work. Some were killed in battle or captured as prisoners.

During World War two, women pilots flew 80% of all ferrying missions. They delivered over 12,000 aircraft. WASP freed over 900 male pilots for combat duty in WWII. The original WAFS were organized specifically to ferry airplanes and free male pilots for combat roles.
