Clearly, that didn't stop the ship from sailing the sea. By the time a coal fire is noticed, it’s probably been burning for days or weeks. The Titanic was not built for speed or racing yet it was at full speed when crossing the Atlantic Ocean, the excessive speed could have been caused by the firefighting on board. Some people believe that with the fire causing the ship so much speed that it crashed into the iceberg. With all this in mind, more lives could have been saved if the fire was put out but the crew isn't to blame for the fire. In general, a coal fire is extremely difficult to deal with under the best circumstances; the crew was doing their best to fight the fire best they could at the time.
