1. LBJ went on a press conference to defend the need for a military DRAFT to induct more men into the army. The draft brought men within the age bracket of 18 to 26 old(baby boomers) into the army so as to increase the number of soldiers on the war front. The student movement, with other anti-protesters including civil societies, was using their protest to turn against the government in the war because they see it as a great mistake made. They were against the use of Young and inexperienced American soldiers to fight the war.
We must also state that the pieces of information that were passed through the television about the situation of the war were incomplete and have been doctored.
