Cartier, Jacques: Jacques Cartier was a voyager that went on 3 different voyages. Cartier’s first voyage was to find gold and many other riches, the Northwest passage, and the last thing was that he wanted to claim new land for France. After this voyage, he came back to France with two Native Americans, corn, and reports of great wealth from the land instead of a Northwest Passage. On his second trip, he returned the Natives back to their lands, explored St Lawrence river, and named the native village Montreal. And on his third and final voyage, he went in search of gold, sailed farther up St Lawrence River, set up a camp at Quebec that failed, went through a long winter and native attacks, and in the end the trip was regarded as a failure because he found no gold and no lasting settlements.
