Why was the end of the korean war considered a stalemate

North and South Korea fought the Korean war from June 25, 1950 – July 27, 1953.  

Explanation:

It was the first conflict of the Cold War in which US supported South Korea and Soviet Union supported North Korea. The war ended without any proper solution. Both the countries are still divided. China also backed North Korea.

Before the war the Korean peninsula was ruled by Japan, but after the first world war it was divided into two halve at the 38th Parallel. But the two sides did not get along and there were battles and skirmishes along the border.There were various attempts to unite the country but it didn't succeed.

So we can say that the Korean war was a stalemate.
