Let's have in mind that during the Presidential election of 1824, neither candidate won a majority in the electoral vote and it was the Congress that had to decide for a winner. And the winner was John Quincy Adams. The defeated candidate: Andrew Jackson. Four years later, the rematch was set. This time Jackson defeated Adams, and this marked the beginning of the Democrats in power.

The permanent problem that Adams had when he was President was the fierce opposition in Congres from legislators that supported Andrew Jackson. This difficult relationship ended up with few trie accomplishments during his presidency. For instance,   he wanted to provide territories to the Native American Indian tribes in the west, but Congress rejected the idea. Furthermore, heading to his reelection he was accused of corruption acts during his government.
