Manifestos are the documents that disclose the information that a candidate, or more often the political party that the candidate belongs to, will present as policy should they be elected. They typically include economical evaluation of the policy and arguments debating its merits. More often than not, they also contain arguments as to why the opposing candidates policies are unwise. They are typically complied and released in preparation for a widespread election, such as a General Election in the UK or a Presidential Election in the USA. These are then (Theoretically) used as on strand of information on which to vote for a candidate.
