Why is imperialism considered a turning point in world history

Because imperialism, or when countries try to gain ownership of  territories beyond their borders , was what ,for example, germany used during both ww1 & ww2 . the germans had the intent of taking over all of europe (imperialism) and wanted to establish an aryan way of life, which eventually led to the holocaust as well as the deaths of millions of people. once countries and their leaders began using the ideas of imperialism, they started wanting to gain more and more land/territory which could be beneficial to the economy of the country, or could be a sign of power as well.
