total isolation made the monks resent their religion, and they wanted to return to regular society.
because the monks were isolated, people forgot about them and chose other paths.
the monks’ isolation prohibited them from others and spreading buddhism.
isolation made it easy for the monks to forget about those outside the monasteries.
