Now you are going to conduct your own investigation to further your understanding of cause and effect. your research will take the form of a two-step web quest assignment. first, you will research and find three facts (worth 1 point per fact) about four of the people shown on the following page (one in each group) that tell how they made a difference in the world in which they lived, and then explains their impact on your world today. put the facts into the cause and effect chart like the example below. in the last box, you will explain how the individual’s efforts changed the world (2 points). so, your cause and effect chart for each person is worth 5 points.
this is the part that is going to take some thinking! on the final page, put your individuals’ actions together in another cause and effect chart that explains how their actions intertwined or impacted an effect we see today.
for example, if you were doing abraham lincoln, harriet tubman, and martin luther king (note: these individuals are not choices for this assignment), you might include improved civil rights of americans as the final effect in the middle circle of the assignment diagram; and then harriet tubman’s underground railroad as one cause; abraham lincoln’s emancipation proclamation as another cause; and martin luther king’s “i have a dream” speech as another cause.
