Saddam Hussein was captured in 2006 and sentenced to death, and it meantime al-Qaeda was losing the war with the US troops. Soon after, the leaders of al-Qaeda were tracked and killed, which disintegrated this terrorist organization. That on the other hand resulted in the rise of a new terrorist organization in the Middle East, ISIS, which managed to gather lot of extremists and former members of al-Qaeda and they started to wage war, as well as performing attacks in multiple regions around the world.
