Explain the process of incorporation and how it changed the meaning of the bill of rights

The process of incorporation was the process by which American courts have applied some parts of the U.S. Bill of Rights to the states. The courts have been able to do so thanks to the Due Process clause of the Fourteenth Amendment. Before this process starting taking place in the 1920s, the Bill of Rights was considered to only apply to the federal government. This has changed the meaning of the Bill of Rights because it has expanded its application and significance.
