What was the advantage of president truman to keep fighting

President Harry Truman succeeded president Roosevelt after his death in 1945, as he was his vice president. He would later win general elections to become President.

During his tenure, he oversaw the initial efforts for the economic rehabilitation of Europe after the Second World War. He also had to deal with the Korean War in 1950. After gaining the approval of the United Nations to get involved in the War, he sent troops to aid South Korea against the invasion of North Korea, which was supported by Communist China. His advantaged resided in the United States alliance with NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization), which also backed him in his military affairs to repel the North Korean Invasion.

the california missions began in the late 18th century as an effort to convert native americans to catholicism and expand european territory. there were 21 missions in all, lasting from 1769 until about 1833.   the missions were built by the spanish starting in 1769 in order to “colonize” the territory of alta california. so the missions were important because they were the means of settling california. it also wanted to keep other european countries out of alta california. building settlements along the coast would them meet these goals. missionaries wanted to convert the indians to the roman catholic faith. california indians did much of the work to build missions.

in his book, the riddle of the rosetta stone, james giblin talks about how there was a young british polymath and physician named thomas young who made a lot of advances on the deciphering of the rosetta stone. he says that even though young made a lot of mistakes because he was working under false assumptions, he also made huge contributions like deciphering three out of the seven symbols (more than anyone else before him). young published his findings and continued his good work but he wasn't able to progress much further due to some unfavorable situations, he still laid the basis for many other scholars and of course for the man who has been generally known to have deciphered it, jean-françois champollion
