The USA declared war on Germany on April 6th, 1917. Before getting involved in the conflict, they had remained neutral, altough they supplied mainly Great Britain but also other Allies. American involvement in the war meant a dramatic increase in the US Armed Forces. The USA entered the war, after Germany tried to encourage Mexico to join them in the war, which was considered a personal attack against the US. A telegram showing these intentions was traced and discovered by British Intelligence. After the war ended, America became one of the main providers for Europe's rebuilding and reparation. Once the war ended President Woodrow Wilson encouraged the creation of the League of Nations, by means of his fourteen points, which set the bases to keep peace among all involved nations.
