The last major german offensive in december of 1944 led to a costly allied victory known as the

Operation Spring Awakening that was fought by the Germans against the Russians.  The Germans tried to defend the oilfields of Hungary and engage the Russians.  Unfortunately the Germans failed to obtain their objectives and when Russians launched a counter-attack, they were defeated.
