North:

7. Some states have more Catholics than any other state since a lot of Catholic immigrants came to this region in the 1800s from Ireland and Italy.
8. It has a wide variation in its climate with cold winters in the northeastern part and warm, humid summers.
Landmark: Mount Rushmore in South Dakota, a sculpture carved into granite with the heads of the 4 most valuable and important presidents of the US: George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln. It demonstrates the relevance of the presidential figure and the north states has had in the transformation of the US to become a united nation after the revolution.
South:
1. It’s better known as the country music region.
2. It has nice food blended to a Latin American influence due to its proximity to the border of Mexico and Central American countries.
3. Florida is the most populated state of this region.
4. People are very conservative and religious.
5. There are lots of hurricanes.
6. Miami is considered the most famous cruise ship port around the globe.
7. Disney World, in Orlando, is the most visited theme park all over the world with Mickey Mouse and his friends.
8. Its climate is mild and humid.
Landmark: The Everglades in Florida, a wetland national park and a sanctuary for several animals, including endangered species which shows the wilderness and roughness of the region at its best.
East:
1. The majority of the states are right next to the Atlantic Ocean.
2. It has a great variation in its climate depending on the state and the season: It can be cold, warm, hot and tropical.
3. The East Coast is highly populated compared to the West Coast.
4. Even though Washington DC is the capital of the US, New York City is considered the capital of the world due to its mixture of people from all over the world.
5. Half of the most representative landmarks in the US are in this region.
Landmark: The Statue of Liberty in New York, since it’s one of the most iconic and recognized landmarks of the American culture. It was a gift from France to the US in 1886. It’s made of copper and it represents a woman in a robe named: Libertas, who was a Roman Liberty goddess. It shows the peak of American society through the development of urban areas and the accelerated growth of the cities from this region.
West:
1. It has the most beautiful beaches as well as huge mountains in the US.
2. Some states are located next to the Pacific Ocean: California, Oregon and Washington.
3. Wyoming is the least populated state in contrast to the most populated one which is California.
4. It has several large cities: Los Angeles (The 2nd largest city after New York), San Diego, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Denver and Portland.
5. The film industry has its location here in the city of Hollywood.
6. Las Vegas is considered the Live Entertainment Capital of the World for its many activities such as casino-hotels, museums, galleries and other events.
7. Lots of Native American tribes lived in this area and they still survive nowadays.
8. Its climate is varied depending on the state and the season: It can be cold, hot dry, semi-arid or arid.
Landmark: The Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, which connects the northern tip of the San Francisco Peninsula with the Marin County. It’s considered one of the Wonders of the Modern World since it’s a structure that shows the evolution of architecture and engineering in the US.
