How did foreign companies affect latin american countries

During the Industrial Revolution, the main way in which foreign companies affected Latin American countries was that they used them for natural resources, and oftentimes left the local populations abused and without a meaningful way to transition to a more sustainable economy. 

In the midwest because it has more moderate climate than the north or south west which makes farming far easier.
